I was thinking about getting into photography for snowboarding with my friends and i would very much like to know what camera out there can attach a fisheye or some kind of wide angle lens (like they have in most skateboarding pictures) and what cameras take the multiple high speed photos?
thanks guys.

i have a budget of $1,000 dollars.

that example is fisheye. thats also not a lot of money to work with since i'm assuming you would like digital, but-

camera option 1-
canon 1d mki-$354 very old pro body camera, only 4 megapixels. i have one, its good minus the size restrictions. fine for web/magazine use though

camera option 2-
canon 20d- $389 consumer level camera, 8.2 megapixels, getting older now, but still good. i know someone who gets published regularly with one

tokina 10-17 -$499 if you can find it used go for it, hard to find though. standard fisheye for canon crop bodies. although if you are just starting, you probably shouldn't get a fisheye anyway.

canon 50mm f/1.8 -$76 standard lens, low f stop, can use it for many things.

and a memory card for like $20

so this suggestion ranges from $949-$984 (plus tax)

i prefer telephoto lenses, but you can't afford that and a fisheye. you'll have to choose, they are about the same price. i'm only suggesting canon because that is the system that i know. you can build a similar nikon kit for a similar price.

if you want to get into photography, for the love of god, don't spend a grand on 'camera with a wide angle that shoots high speed photos'. first off, if you want it to look like skateboarding, skateboarding is rarely if ever shot wide angle. what you mean to say is fisheye. secondly wide angle looks weird cuz of the non circular distortion. otherwise skating is shot at 50mm 35mm equiv and short telephoto ie 85-105 mm. if you want 'high speed photos' get a video camera. srsly. you need to do exactly this: go to keh.com, buy a nikon n90 (that camera is capable of anything you need, and if you dont like the results it wont be the n90s fault) for something close to 50$ in bgn condition. get a 50mm 1.8 ais manual focus lens for for close to 100$. buy a brick of fuji color press 400 film on ebay. now you have spent less than 200 and can take pictures so much sharper than with any of the garbage 3rd party wide angles suggested in this thread. have your film developed to cd at first and find out if you like photography. that 50mm lens im suggesting will work on any nikon digital body you might decide to get later.

once again to recap. dont spend 1000 dollars, im not knocking wide angles its just if you get some tamron tokina sigma garbage your gonna be so bummed in the long run. if you dont enjoy shooting a film slr with a sharp lens and amazing results you will certainly get bored, very very quickly, of your 1000 dollar wide angle extreme sports machine gun. as well and this way you save 800 figuring that out. also no one will want to buy your sigma/tampax lens when you try to unload it.

but, if you do like photography you will own a sick camera and a sharp lens and the start of a sick camera system.

thats a big rant
