i know some say it's unnecessary for snow photography but if i were to get one what should i get? can i get one that you screw onto a regular 18-55 that doesn't make the resolution go way down? and i'm not trying to spend a lot. like under 150 ish

what camera are you using?
there some cheaper options for fisheyes.
for $150 I dunno, maybe a bit more on ebay you can find some cool stuff.

originally i was going to disregard the opteka suggestion, but some ruther digging shows that its actually the same lens as the samyang 8mm, vivitar 7mm, etc. just rebranded with optekas name on it, and it has a very good review for the price. quality of both the images and the footage from it on a 7d body look amazing.
im about to pick one up myself.

I think opteka's stepped up their game a whole lot. Obviously theres still people going to say century is better, and im sure century is a lot better. But for the shit the majority of us do, opteka is just fine.
and no im not trying to start an argument or anything, i would rather have a century lens but i was poor at the time.

the century vs opteka argument is a rather mute point with this lens though simply because century does not make DSLR lenses

Ok every lens people have suggested to you are horrible. I assume your not shooting fx. If you shoot nikon get the nikon 10.5mm or tokina 10-17mm. If cannon get the tokina 10-17mm.
Dont buy that opteka shit.

i can't see a 10-17 being that rad. alot of people with the 7D are getting the sigma 10mm 2.8, if you're shooting on a camera with crop sensor that seems to be the one to get, and it comes in a bunch of different mounts.

the 10-17 is the standard for canon crop cameras. it gets good results
if you dont want to spend over 150, dont bother because there isn't anything that you can get that will look good

Geting a fisheye in front of your 18-55 wont reduce the resolution but the sharpness, the color, add a lot of chromatic aberation, etc... well it wont look good at all.

i got the opteka off amazon for like 270 and its real nice its its all manual controls and the quality is real great. I have the canon 500d and the lens literally has a infinite DOF range so if you make a mistake setting up a nice composition in post is real easy

You could get a Samyang 8mm there about $179 but they seem worth it, I'm getting one soon.
