Looking for a wide angle lens for my new canon 40D body. Want to shoot wide angle snowboarding. What lens will probably suit me the best?

sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 or the sigma 10-20 f3.5 or even the tokina 11-16 f2.8 but this is an hard to find lense (new)
you can also buy the tokina 11-17 fisheye but this is not a wideangle

i really don't like how snowboarding looks shot on a wide angle.

if it's in good shape with fairly low shutter actuations yes it is absolutely a good deal.

I shoot with the tokina 10-17 but it's a fisheye.

try the opteka 6.5mm its pretty nice and only around 270 it shoots the same as the sigma just a lot cheaper

10-20 canon or sigma is pretty good

tough to find a good wideangle for a crop camera, the opteka 6.5 is a fisheye tokina 10-17 is the best i'd say, the canon 10-22 is ok, but slow, and the sigma 10-20 is ok too. all depends on your budget

for ultrawide the tokina 11-16 2.8 is nice, try to stick with constant aperture lenses... if you dont want ultra wide and would rather have a medium-wide then go with maybe something like a sigma 16-50 2.8 or tamron 17-50 2.8... depends on how wide you want to go with the lens... the tokina 10-17 is a nice option for ultrawide and fisheye on the wide end... i just dont like how its a ranged aperture lens... f3.5-4.5...

ranged aperture is fine for taking photos, and 15-17mm really isn't that wide on a crop camera, it's like a 24-28mm which is wide, but you would probably be shooting more toward the 10 side which is 3.5 as opposied to 4.5, which still isn't that fast, but 2.8 is about as fast an ultrawide as youre going to find

for me, id rather have a fisheye for super close, wide shots... and a normalish zoom, like the sigma 16-50 or tamron 17-50... i know that the effective crop is about 26-28mm but even that is still decently wide...
the tokina 11-16 has crazy distortion on it on the wide end of it... i dont really like the look of that lens until youre at about 15mm or more... the only thing i might use it for would be landscapes because the distortion wouldnt be as apparent...
