i just got a 1d today and i know the resolution isnt that great so i was thinkin about gettin slides of the stills and scanning them to get a higher resolution. has anyone done this?

i don't see how it would work, straight out of the camera will be the highest quality it can be. you would lose quality just getting it made into a slide i would think, everything you do with an image degrades the quality slightly.

still the 1d is a professional digi SLR even though it is 10 or so years old. although the megapixels are somewhere in the 1-2 range it should still look damned good when scanned in. ive heard things comparing that quality to say a rebel or something these days...

i could been completely and totally off but hey its worth a shot right?

what are you planning to do with the photos? It can be printed pretty big as it is

i dont know how the quality transfers over, but ive taken a digital to a black and white negative for fun. and it looks pretty awesome, not sure how it would look on the a color slide. but give it a try, it actually sounds like a good idea to get more quality, because your creating a negative / positive out a full resolution photo, then enlarging it.... I would bet this process doesn't get any pixilation and it will look less like an enlarged digital photo and more like a film enlargement.... but in theory this will downgrade quality, but if the film look is what your going for, this may just work

but seriously its not gonna matter, if mags have run photos from these cameras then its good enough for you. chill out and be confident in your decisions.
