I am considering purchasing the Sigma 4.5mm circular fisheye because of its 180 degree coverage on APS-C cameras and it's relatively large max aperture (2.8). Should I forgo the 180 degree coverage and consider some other lenses? I will be using it primarily to shoot snowboard photos on a hobby level and would like to get sequences on occasion. Any disadvantages with this lens? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
J

I read that with the 10mm you get a 167 degree view diagonally. I think the 4.5mm gives you 180 degrees in all directions, but the picture is circular. I figured you could dewarp the pictures when you want and basically get a wider shot than with the 10mm. Do you think this makes sense?

Check out the 4.5 if you haven't seen it: http://www.benbailey.net/index.php/2008/08...rcular-fisheye/
I believe these were all taken with the Sigma 4.5mm: http://www.whateverland.com/yesterday/Fisheye/

The 10mm is definitely nice too, but what do you see as advantages or disadvantages between the two for shooting snowboarding?

Thanks

i don't think you need a lens that wide to shoot snowboarding that is like crazy wide and distorted

i think the tokina 10-17 is the most standard choice... for good reason
