Should I choose the nikon or Canon, What is the difference?

Basically the same thing.

definetely dont get the d40 only certain nikon lenses work with the d40 with the d50 however ALL the lenses work

the d40 feels just all around too small, but then again the Xti feels like crap because of it's plastic structure. do you absolutly have to choose one or the other? i'd broaden my choices if i were you.

almost anything

I guess d40x, cuz its got better flash sync, takes better shoots in raw and jpeg,, and when shooting cotinuosly its wont make a dif if its raw or jpeg. and nikon has way better image quality and the xti is crap if u have the stock lense, (usually 18-55) u need and good one to get good pictures. like a k10D will do fine with a stock lense, not great pics, but okay,, with the 400D they take crappy pics and theyll say ohh the XTi has anti dust but it doesnt do as much as u think. who cares about that if you take care of it then it wont get dusty will it, um ergonomically wise, its okay,, i dont think i has direct buttons to iso and w.b and its a little to plastic feelin. and the d40x has the brightest screen

I got the d40x and I'm lovin' it.

Get a D40X, but make sure you only buy DX lenses with it.

yep...i have a d40x and i love it! i also use my schools cannon 30d because they h ave a fish eye lens. i just wish that they made a cannon to nikon lens adapter.

i wanna see the d60. it just came out like a few weeks ago

It was only announced a few weeks ago. It isn't shipping yet to my knowledge. Not that I know what I'm talking about.
