We're getting almost overloaded with the same question's in this forum.
for instance: what cam should i get? what lens could i use on 20D?

so i made this list for those who want to ask

in the 35mm slr format category:
-a canon AE-1. you will find these on ebay for not to much money. (around $80-100)
canon AE-1 zenitar fish for AE-1

-canon eos rebel. goes cheap (around $150) on once again EBAY
canon eos rebel fish for all eos camera's

in the digi p&s category:
-canon powershot A85

-nikon coolpix 3200

in the medium format category:
-lomo lubitel 166. a very basic but very cheap tlr 6x6 camera.
lubitel 166 ebay search

-seagull GC. a bit more advanced but also more expencive than the lubitel.
seagull GC-104

in the digi slr category:
-canon digital rebel. fairly cheap but not awesome
canon digi rebel

-nikon D70. very very good digi slr. also pretty cheap.
Nikon D70

in the category lenses:
-canon 10-22mm ef-s lens. the widest canon lens available for digi rebel and 20D. the 35mm equivalent is 16-35mm *THIS LENS DOESN'T HAVE BARREL DISORTION!*
canon 10-22mm

-nikon DX 10.5mm fisheye. nikon's answer to the 1.6 digi crop. a 10.5mm fisheye made for the digi slr's. 35mm equivalent is 16mm.

nikon 10.5mm fish

for 35mm nikon:
Nikon 16mm Fisheye or Zenitar depending on budget
nikon 16mm

Nikon 50mm good lens to learn on still my favorite
nikon 50mm

80-200mm Lens- good for all around photography as is the 50mm
nikon 80-200mm

if anyone feels to ad some cam/lens feel free to ad in this topic.

corey
yeah i dont know anything about cameras besides how to take okay pictures
i have a mkII for my camcorder, and i have an OM-4 which was my dad's, can i get a step up ring to use the 2 together? Will the pictures look okay? i know century's are the best lens to get for camcorders but i dont know if its different for 35mm SLR's.
Mike Cullen
i already made this thread you douchee mc douche. Well you quoted guus so yours is better. i'd delete mine but im a future whore. sucks.

EDIT: corey no that will not work, video lenses are for video cameras, even if you miraculously got it to focus the quality would blow. Just stick it out without a fish, especially for snow you dont need one, plus olympus glass is really good, so just use that. cheers.
corey
aight thanks, saved me about 10$ on buying the step up ring

well i was woundering what you guys do to protct your bag when its on and when it down when shooting.
Mike Cullen
Your bag should be pretty impervious to a bit of snow spray or snow on the back, just keep it zipped up.
But im not really sure of the question. If your really worried about weather get a lowepro "AW" line bag.

By the way there really shouldnt be 2 begginer questions topics here. I came First. i win.

you could try getting a rain cover, that'll probally do the trick with snow too. the atiba mini comes packed with one ready to go.

maybe your talking about people trying to jack your shit? just watch your bag at all times, keep it close. i think with snowboarding it's not nearly as sketch when your out shooting. people don't normally like to be out in deep snow for no reason. if they come close just hit the shit out of them with a shovel. works like a charm.
Mike Last
I was riding with my D2H and a whole wack of gear inside my Computrekker AW original and was rolling in some knee deep pow. Caught my toe edge in the powder and went head over heels for 2 or 3 flips... ended up landing on the backpack. Nothing was damaged and everything was working just as well as ever. All my gear has stayed perfectly dry in it as well.

I cant see the atiba mini being good for snow because its soo thick, you would probably be better of with an aw line lowepro or a burton zoom/dakine sequence
Jay Cagney
yeah i got a burton zoom its water resistant and stuff i've never had a problem yet
MikeHolm
I merged both the topics together...it seemed like the best solution to the two thread dilemma.
Mike Cullen
beautiful!

No es pin? Not that it needs a pin at all.....theres like 5 topics...but ive always wanted a pin.
Mike Last
I found out how to pin it... yeah go me!
MikeHolm
yeah...go mike. hip hip hooray.

I imagine ebay slaves would misfire a lot when shooting snowboarding due to the cold?

Anyone had any experience?

Didn't for me but I was only about 10 meters away from them.
Andrew. B
yeah ive got a mini trekka aw and haven't had it up the mountains yet so it sounds like im all good
Mike Last
I wouldn't be so worried about the cold as I would be the range. When you're shooting snowboarding, often times things are on a much bigger scale in the mountains. I have had to be well over 100 feet away from the rider and still have had my slaves going off when I needed them to. Thank god for pocket wizards.
Andrew. B
yeah im saving for another flash and some plus ll's so i shold have those before it snows here
Warren Foster
I wouldn't rely on ebay slaves ontop of a mountain. If they work great, but be prepared to shoot natural light until you get something more reliable.
Hash_man
Just picked up a Burton Zoom so i can take my XTi and my gear boarding with me this year.

I have heard some people talk about putting lenses in ziploc bags to avoid them fogging up with quick changes in temp etc. Anyone have any experience with this, or any other tricks?
Jonsa
Just let your back come to room temperature before opening it up after getting off the mountain.
colorado.
is there anywhere on the internet where you can buy D70's new other than ebay?
